Being fed by cold water mains via an un-vented systems kit or it may be tank fed. The water heater will provide hot water from 1 to an infinitive number of hot water draw off points.
The water heater is independent and will not require any assistance from the central heating System to operate. Therefore system efficiencies are greatly reduced and boiler life enhanced as the central heating boiler can be switched off during the summer months. Gas fired water heaters can produce hot water at the rate of 100 Litres to 3000 litres per hour form one single source depending on the units size and output.
It is aimed at clients who require large amounts of domestic hot water at higher pressures or the larger domestic property 4/5 bedrooms with 2/3 showers or baths. Many direct fired units are fitted in commercial applications.
The direct-fired unit is ideal for applications where large amounts of hot water are in demand. Commercial applications such as Restaurants, Public Houses, Canteens, Schools, Leisure Centers, Hotels etc.
The direct-fired water heater should be fitted in accordance with all building regulations. The water heater should be treated the same way as a gas fired boiler. In terms of siting and flueing arrangements.
Direct fired water heaters provide one of the most energy efficient methods of heating water available on the market today. low Cost Operation, consistent reliability of performance can be maintained during daily use with reduced heat recovery times due to the use of efficient burners, and high density boiler insulation which ensures minimum heat loss.
Pace heating & Plumbing can include any Indirect Fired Water Heater into your service agreement, making sure that the Valves, Timers, Coil, Emmersion, Pipework are all working properly and are in sound and safe order.
A thermal storage water cylinder reverses the indirect water-heating principal. Water that passes through the central heating system and boiler also passes through the cylinder.
The water that is in the cylinder never changes it simply flows around the vented or un vented heating circuits being re heated by the boiler. The build up of scale within the cylinder is therefore eliminated and extra system protection is achieved by the addition of corrosion / scale inhibitors. If required, anti-freeze may also be added. (See below)
The hot water is stored in the cylinder and can be heated to a maximum of 90°C thereby increasing the amount of heat energy available for use, while the use of CFC Free Foam Insulation retains the heat within the stored water.
Heat is transferred by a highly efficient heat exchanger. Cold mains water enters the heat exchanger when a tap is turned on, the water goes round the exchanger gaining heat from the stored hot water in the cylinder, it is then delivered to the taps.
When the system is working correctly and at full capacity the mains fed water is delivered at such high temperatures that cold water needs to be added first to protect from scalding. Therefore a thermostatic mixing valve is usually plumbed into the outlet supplying the taps and showers.
The mains hot water is not stored and is therefore drinkable, and removes the need for a cold-water storage tank. There is no chance of the introduction of Legionnaires' Bacteria into the supply.
The stored water within the cylinder can be heated by various methods, including Gas/Oil Boilers, either directly or indirectly (using a coil), or by Electrical Immersion Heaters utilizing various tariffs.
By not having to fit an overflow from the hot water system removes the need to run pipework outside the property. In turn units can be sited anywhere within the dwelling you can get a mains water supply
